*March 16, 2009 Update:

Dear Brethren and Friends,

I am still here battling this cancer. It has been quite an experience. God has sustained me with His mighty hand and I am learning levels of trust I did not know before. I will have another surgery tomorrow, March 17, 2009, Lord willing to remove a small metastasized tumor from the left side of my brain. It is most likely a copy of the kidney cancer that started all of this. Doctors are expecting a successful operation and tell me that recovery should take 4-8 weeks. I still have multiple spots in my lungs. Treatment will begin on those sometime in April. I've preached occasionally during this time. However, my output of fresh material has been very limited. I hope to change that if God gives me opportunity. Until then, know that I will strive to get back to The Preacher's Study as soon as is humanly possible to deliver on the commitments of your subscriptions. In the meantime I hope you are finding sufficient material in the archives to assist in your work. All subscriptions will stay active indefinitely until this matter is resolved. God bless.

*Previous September 2008 notice:

Dear Brethren and Friends,

On Friday of last week I was diagnosed stage four kidney cancer that has enveloped my left kidney and spread to both of my lungs. I will have surgery tomorrow (September 19th) at or about noon Pacific time. If the surgery is successful to remove the kidney and surrounding tissue, and I can recover sufficiently, I will proceed to some kind of chemotherapy or immunotherapy. Though I have full confidence that God can heal me either directly or through the hands of doctors, I do not presume to know His will. These things said, I do not know the future of The Preacher's Study. I will strive to see that it is placed in competent hands so that it can continue if I can't. Realistically, all I can promise is that I'll do my best with whatever time God allows. Please pray for me. I also ask that, should some of you be compelled to feel you are being shorted because I cannot at this time continue to provide new material, you might be merciful and try to understand. Ours is a one man operation. My wife will monitor the support email address as much as she can while I'm in the hospital. She is, as you might imagine, dealing with large struggles herself because of this development.
