Homosexuality and the Bible (Two part series)

bulletHomosexuality and the Bible: Part 1  Various Texts (Redick)
With the airing of the "Ellen" episode on ABC TV recently, homosexuality has been brought front and center before the American public. Sitcom star Ellen Degeneres openly admitted the lesbianism of both her character and her real life. Some now view her as a heroine. Others are being persuaded of the same, if for no other reason than the media is pulling out the stops to portray her that way. ABC claims that 42 million viewed the program after several weeks of hype. You might think that suddenly homosexuality had become acceptable and right. The Bible, however, has not changed in its verdict. Homosexuality is a sin against God and against those who practice it. This message is the first of a two part series.
bulletHomosexuality and the Bible: Part 2 Various Texts (Redick)
A continuation of the message above.
Is there such a thing as an "alternate lifestyle" in the Bible relating to human sexuality? Yes there is, but it isn't homosexuality or lesbianism. The only "alternate lifestyle" the Bible accepts besides male/female monogamous marriage is celibacy. Examines this issue and several others.

Words for the Weary Well Doer (Two Part Series)

bulletWords for the Weary Well Doer: Part 1  Galatians 6:9-10 (Redick)
It's compassion fatigue. It's well doer's burnout. It happens sometimes when a very dedicated, committed disciple of Jesus suddenly wakes up and realized he's tired - tired of giving, tired of doing, tired of serving. He finds that the joy of service is gone.
Part one considers who gets weary.
bulletWords for the Weary Well Doer: Part 2 Galatians 6:9-10;1 Kings 18-19  (Redick)
Part two considers the case of Elijah - at one point perhaps the weariest of all well doers in the Bible.

A Killer Comes to Christ (Three Part Series)

bulletA Killer Comes to Christ: Part 1   Acts 9:1-9 (Redick)
You'll find the conversion of Saul of Tarsus described in four places in the New Testament: Acts 9, Acts 22, Acts 26, and Galatians 1. With that many descriptions, it is as though the Holy Spirit has said, "I want you to take some time and examine the case of this man." This message and the two subsequent ones, looks at the account of Saul's conversion in Acts 9.
bulletA Killer Comes to Christ: Part 2    Acts 9:10-22 (Redick)
The description of the conversion of Saul of Tarsus in Acts 9 has far ranging and important application. It shows the contrast of a life before Christ is received and after. It also helps us answer the important question, "What must I do to be saved?" This message deals with these subjects and more.
bulletA Killer Comes to Christ: Part 3   Acts 9:19-30 (Redick)
After his conversion, the early Christians were reluctant to accept Saul of Tarsus. Wouldn't you have a hard time trusting a killer? What if it had been your loved ones he killed? Even when there is forgiveness for past wrongs, trust is not something that just magically reappears. It takes time and it takes effort from both the one who has broken trust and the one who forgives.

What the Bible Says About Abortion (Two Part Series)

bulletThe Sanctity of All Human Life  Various Texts (Redick)
Will it be that God visits judgment upon this nation for the 1.5 million children it aborts each year? This author thinks it is a distinct possibility.
bulletThe Bible's Perspective on Prenatal Life Various Texts (Redick)
The Bible has much to say about prenatal life.
